Episode 1: Jason Mayden: On Design, Inspiration, and Giving Back
Acclaimed sneaker designer, Jason Mayden, shares insights about the Medici Effect and how it has shaped his influential career. He reveals how working in the Intersection helped him fuse disparate sources of inspiration to create aspirational and powerful designs. He also talks about his new work at Super Heroic, why it's important for him to be a role model (and why you don't need to be a superstar to set an example), and how design became his way to participate meaningfully in history and help others unleash their true potential.
Jason Mayden is a designer, lecturer, artist, collector of curious and wonderfully crafted goods, sports junkie, bookworm, equality in education advocate, 1990's Hip Hop enthusiast and social innovator. Currently, Jason is a Strategic Advisor on the topic of Design for MarkOne (the makers of the Vessyl), the first Designer-In-Residence at Accel Partners, and a Media Designer/Lecturer at the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University. Prior to his various current endeavors, Jason had a successful career as the Sr. Global Design Director for Jordan Brand, a division of Nike Inc.
